UPS Recycling Program

COASTTEC IS A R2: 2013 AND RIOS CERTIFIED RECYCLER

CoastTec only purchases UPS units, associated battery cartridges and sealed lead acid batteries. We accept complete UPS units, individual battery cartridges if received at recycler separately from units as well as sealed lead acid batteries.

If recycler sorts materials to UPS units (all UPS manufacturers accepted) CoastTec pays UPS recycling pricing. Contact us for current pricing. No minimum APC UPS unit percent required in the UPS Recycling Program as in the UPS Reuse Program. Units must have batteries to qualify for the UPS Recycling Program. Recycler must ship materials to CoastTec.

UPS Recycling Requirements

CoastTec pays per pound based on total unit weight, not packing material (i.e. skids, cardboard…)
Recycling rate is based on the units in the shipment being complete with batteries. In the event that batteries have been removed from the units CoastTec pay at a reduced rate for these items
CoastTec does not accept previously dismantled/scrapped units. If included in the shipment CoastTec pay at a reduced rate for these items
CoastTec does not accept scrap metal. If included in the shipment CoastTec pays $0 per pound for these items
CoastTec does not accept non-UPS electronic scrap. Non-UPS scrap will be considered nonconforming material and will be held at CoastTec location for recycler to arrange pickup

Sort procedure for units

Packaging requirements for units

Care should be taken to prevent damage to units, battery cartridges and batteries during the sort and skidding process
Cardboard should be placed on the skid to keep cords from dropping through the skid
Units should be stacked on skid with largest/heaviest units on bottom
Units should be stacked no higher than 3 feet
Pallet and units should be wrapped securely to eliminate movement of units
Pallet should be strapped after being wrapped to assure safe transport
Gaylords may be used in the UPS Recycling Program

Shipment of accumulated materials

Recycler arranges and pays for shipment of accumulated units/batteries to CoastTec
The minimum number of skids recycler can ship to CoastTec
When ready for shipment email Thomas Dock (tdock@coasttec.com) and provide material being shipped (UPS recycling or battery recycling), number of skids, dims (l x w x h of each skid) and gross and net weight of entire shipment, and an estimated delivery date for the shipment to CoastTec
CoastTec will produce a purchase order for the shipment and email to the contact person

Triage and payment

Every shipment received goes through a triage process at CoastTec and reconciliation shows disposition and weight
CoastTec will issue a reconciliation report with total weight of UPS recycling or battery recycling and total dollar amount
CoastTec will request an invoice from contact and invoice should be emailed to Samantha Hodge (ap@coasttec.com)
CoastTec payment terms are NET 30, company check
Recycler shall provide a physical addresses and corresponding accounting/billing addresses
